Album

Live in Cook County Jail is a 1971 live album by American blues musician B. King, recorded on September 10, 1970, in Cook County Jail in Chicago. Agreeing to a request by jail warden Winston Moore, King and his band performed for an audience of 2,117 prisoners, most of whom were young black men. King's set list consisted mostly of slow blues songs, which had been hits earlier in his career. When King told ABC Records about the performance, he was advised to bring along press and recording equipment. Every Day I Have The Blues Live In Cook County Jail1970. Live at the Regal is still the champ of King's live output, but many say this runs a close second, and they just may be right. Often with B. King, fans are split between Live in Cook County Jail and Live at the Regal, both being classic blues albums and excellent performances by Mr. The one drawback to this album, for me personally, is King's audience interplay just doesn't seem as strong on this album and I tend to blame the audience more than B. While the audience in Live at the Regal can almost become disruptive to the music, the audience in Cook County leans closer to non-responsive unless King pries a. reaction out of them, which the King is still apt to do. All in all, a great album and I think a blues fan should pick this and the Regal both up. Songs in album B. King - Live In Cook County Jail 1970. King - Introduction. And, like the live shows they document, none of them are any less than solid and professional, hallmarks of Kings work aesthetic. But every so often B. truly catches fire his playing and singing comes up an extra notch or two, and the result is a live album with some real sparks to it. Nice B.
