The Cult regrouped in 2000 with a renewed sense of purpose and drive. The bands last release of new material 1994 self titled was half baked and out of step with the alt movement of the time. The band sounds alive on this recording thanks to hard rocking guitars and a bit more crunch then the bands 80's heyday. Former Guns N Roses and Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorumdrummer from the classic Cult album Sonic Temple re-joins Astbury and Duffy to round out the strongest line up in. In their 2001 incarnation, the Cult may be more accurately described as the Doors meets Zeppelin meets Tool. Guitarist Billy Duffy seems to have discovered distortion in the seven years since their last album. Not warm fuzz tones, but bone-crunching, mind-numbing distortion. While the music has changed, it still sounds like the Cult thanks to singer Ian Astbury's consistent wails and moans. Band Name The Cult. Album Name Beyond Good and Evil. Type Album.
