Leave my whole life behind Waiting for the sun to shine Leave my whole life behind Waiting for the sun to shine I sit alone I sit alone and wait For the sun to shine refrain. Waiting for the Sun is the third studio album by the American rock band the Doors. Recorded at TTG Studios in Los Angeles, the album's 11 tracks were recorded between February and May 1968 and the album was released by Elektra Records on July 3, 1968. It became the band's only number one album topping the charts for four weeks and included their second US number one single, Hello, I Love You for two weeks starting August 3, 1968. The first single released off the album was The Unknown Soldier. Waiting for the Sun is a respectable, if unimpressive, third album it at least represents an advance over Strange Days which had the knack of sounding like the first Doors album, not only as good. Nevertheless the Doors are not a particularly exciting hard rock band and Morrison is something like rock musics equivalent to Rod McKuen. Whether all this adds up to the praise that has been heaped on the Doors in some circles is open to question. As for the music, great rock it isnt - but then Morrison is supposedly our generations sex symbol. Anyway the cover is pretty. Popular on Rolling St
