The major find here is the set of Seven Romances on Poems of Alexander Blok, Op. 127, composed in 1967 for soprano and an ensemble of violin, cello, and piano, which all come together on only in the seventh song, Music track 8. Both the vocal treatment and the piecemeal division of the instrument group look forward to the Symphony No. 14, Op. 135, composed two years later, but the Romances, which are a good deal more somber than the name would imply, have distinctive features of their own such as a twelve-tone row but not serial organization in the sixth song, Mysterious.
