According to Rephlex Records specifically Grant not Richard Steinvord is an American who is now afraid to reveal his identity because he doesn't want everyone to stop buying his stuff when they realize he's not Aphex Twin. As for why he hasn't released anything since, how would he prove he's Steinvord to anyone but Rephlex without outing himself Rephlex Records closing in 2014 cut off the one way he had to release further albums under this band name without breaking the secrecy. Presumably he just started over under a new name. This album has an average beat per minute of BPM slowestfastest tempos:, BPM. You may have heard all the conspiracy theories as to who Steinvord actually is, a well-known producer in disguise, an equally as well-known collaborative duo, or a fresh new talent that's obviously good enough to make us second guess. According to Rephlex Records (specifically Grant not Richard) Steinvord is an American who is now afraid to reveal his identity because he doesn't want everyone to stop buying his stuff when they realize he's not Aphex Twin. As for why he hasn't released anything since, how would he prove he's Steinvord to anyone but Rephlex without "outing" himself? Rephlex Records closing in 2014 cut off the one way he had to release further albums under this band name without breaking the secrecy. Presumably he just started over under a new name. Then again maybe that's a lie. It's what Grant said, but whether or not Grant was telling the truth I don't know. We normally think of Richard as the one with the reputation for lying in interviews, but that doesn't mean Grant has never done it.

Crucially, it makes absolutely no sense. If Grant really said this, he is likely having you on.

OntrackV2 is so Luke Vibert aka Amen Andrews! Just listen to the melodies!

I think this may be the best record I've ever listened to. So crisp and clean. Aside from the details in the actual music, the dynamics involved with every single song is incredible. Seriously, the digital versions does NOT do this release justice. Wall rattling bass. Locked goove on side A. Pure drill and bass, with some astronomical space jazz. A_M_A_Z_I_N_G

One of my favorite listens and one of the best anything I've heard in a long...long time. This EP is a reawakening to the infinite capabilities electronic music posses and it's inner inter-dimensional capabilities in my opinion :-) The sounds on this EP are so phucking amazing you will need a day (or two) to rephlex past, present and future. It's heavy, and I want to experience it again...and again..and again. This is one of the the most gratifying compositions since I can remember. Support the label.
Slowly writer
It's aphex twin
Chillhunter
its not confirmed but the style similar to the tuss and some of the song names make it very possible
Stonewing
and squarepusher :p
Briciraz
Hold up! I heard this is one of the members of the KLF and that dude hooked up with that guy from the prodigy and bought a laptop and some programs and said "we got this shit on lock" Or was it the guy from orbital?
Inerrace
It's Burial, bro. Kieran Hebden told me and he's Burial.

Unless my record has an error, according to its run etchings, side A has 3 tracks, side B only two.So the tracklisting should be :A1 BackyardA2 MaelstromA3 Iyff Acid E1B1 Cyx X-1B2 Ontrackv2Otherwise good EP, but very reminiscent of both AFX and Squarepusher.

On my copy, track 3 on side B is a "hidden" track: there's a locked groove at the end of my track 2 (which triggers the automatic return on my turn tables), but I happened to notice there's more information after that: turned out to be track 3. Your pressing might have the same thing going on.
Kage
Its an error. A side has two tracks Backyard/Maelstrom and B side has three tracks...

this is on board with tuss or any high energy aphex you may be craving. If your a rephlex label junkie then this is your next listen. RELENTLESS scifi drum and bass breaaks and much creativity. One of the best new electronica releases in my opinion.

If you get past being another moron who needs to compulsively compare things with other things, you'll find here one of the best electronic music released this year so far. 4 tracks of reckless electronica with greatly crafted drumbreaks, acid basslines, drum and bass, ambient pads and a lot more to listen to. This is beter than any other name out there trying a similar stuff nowadays. A lot of different styles and shades wrapped in a single release, all executed with great taste. If you still want to compare it with other music, Backyard may remind of Photek in his prime at some times. Really solid drum and bass/jungle with IDM wizardy. Maelstrom is a great track of 9 minutes of duration that may remind you of Tom Jenkinson at his best, mixed with all kind of musique concrete sounds and passages, and even some gabber kicks. The name and some of the sounds and the way the track evolves is spot on in what I think is a great representation of some sort of epic tale or legend.Iyff acid is a great drum and bass/acid track with a 303 line that flows in a way only Aphex Twin can pull out. Cyg x-1 is the odd one in the good sense: I can't really compare this one to any other music around. The name is again really fitting as it envisions some sort of outer space happenings, specially those pads at the end when the track reaches its climax. onTrack v2 is a straight drum and bass/amen tune which is nothing special in itself, but has a lot of energy and good vibe into it, which is hard to achieve considering how many times the amen has been rocked already.High replay value due tracks having a lot of subtle details you keep discovering every time.Im giving this a 4/5 because I would like to have those tracks in digital format instead of vinyl. Im just hopping they get included in a future release.

First you call people morons for drawing comparisons in music, then you compare a 303 line to aphex twin. You should probably proof read your reviews before hitting the submit button.
Tekasa
Except it's 4/4.
Cel
You're just hopping.I think the reason you might find Cyg X-1 so strange is because it's in a 7/8 time.
